The Persian carpet has been around for many centuries. The earliest known Persian carpet was known as the Pazyryk rug which dates from the fifth century B.C. There have been many great periods in the history of Persian carpets each giving rise to a certain genre of carpets. During the Sassanian dynasty, the "spring carpet of Khosrow" was created. After which more carpets where created during the Mongol period and under the rule of king Shah Abbas.
